Leah on the Offbeat (English Edition)

I haven't read or seen Love Simon, but downloaded this book as I had it on a list of books to look out for in 2018. Finally, go to it and really enjoyed it. Leah is Simon's best friend, the drummer in an all-girl band, the only daughter of a poor single mother, and bisexual, although no one knows that yet. The story is all about her growing attraction to her friend Abby, who is currently dating her other friend Nick. There is added confusion when Garrett starts flirting with Leah, and asks her to the prom. Meanwhile, Abby splits with Nick and starts giving Leah mixed signals. Everything is building up to the climax of the school prom, and everyone going their separate ways to start college. There is that emotional sense of everything ending, and new things beginning, and Leah makes the perfect narrator for this confusing, bitter-sweet time in their lives. She's just a great character, and really for me, the plot could have been about anything and I would have loved it. Great book.
